Portfolio > Tiles Sets

These works are groupings of painted wood tiles arranged on handmade shallow shelves. Each board is painted on both sides and they can be rearranged and flipped over to reveal new compositions. Some inspiration comes from children's blocks.

I began making these at about the scale of dominoes at the start of the pandemic, working with markers - something repetitive to do to keep busy, a kind of therapy of sorts. As the project grew in scale over time, I've shifted to a more complex geometric language. Titles are there primarily to help identify sets.
